Instead of throwing camo netting over the bases of the animatronic animals, I designed the area underneath to suggest a surface without making it a literal representation. Hundreds of holes were drilled in the panels, and plastic foliage is inserted at each venue. The base panels are simply stacked with wooden spacing blocks, making storage compact and assembly simple.

This artifact cabinet- one of several-  helps to flesh out the story. Locking drawers, protected by acrylic panels, close for transport. Like every cabinet in this section of the exhibition, it’s designed with pallet jack slots that are part of the aesthetic. My SketchUp designs were brought to life by the highly skilled Stage Nine build team, who even fabricated a branding iron to mark the “crates.”

Visitors choose from four videos to learn about the differences between the Bone Wars explorers and today’s scientists and researchers. I wrote, field produced and edited the brief videos, which are displayed on the back wall from a projector hidden above the entrance.
